The inverted cross is actually representative of St. Peter, not Satan or Satanism at all, (it was just adopted by Satanists as some people deem it to be offensive) so realistically it’s actually a religious symbol. The reason I wear it to represent my stance on religion is because 1) most people aren’t really all that educated when it comes to religion, so tend automatically assume I’m anti-religion or at least certainly not religious when they see me wearing them, so I’m simply taking advantage of the initial impact of the symbol on the majority. It works for me. 2) Because all religious symbolism to me personally doesn’t actually glorify the religion it represents at all. (When most people wear religious symbols it’s to glorify their faith/belief/religion.) To me, all theistic religious symbolism, whether it be Christian, Islamic, or whatever else, merely represents the evils of said religion.
Technically, I would wear a standard non-inverted cross, because it would mean exactly the same thing to me, but it would just give out the wrong message because I can’t expect people to know my line of thought when I’m wearing it. However, one of my inverted crosses is actually Jesus on a crucifix instead of just a standard St. Peter’s cross, which technically does represent mockery and rejection of Jesus.
In a nutshell, I’m just being an ass because I can, and it also shows the contradictions of religious people who wear crucifixes/whatever else and demand you respect their beliefs, yet get offended and cause a riot the second they see an inverted cross.
